This year’s National Apprenticeships Week runs from 8th to 14th February and the theme is ‘Build The Future’.
With the global pandemic affecting the jobs market in various ways, it can sometimes feel as though there are limits to what can be achieved at the moment. But the situation is forcing us to change the way we think about work and study, and that means there are great possibilities ahead.
If you’ve already completed a degree, apprenticeships might not seem like the right career move for you; but they can provide a way to gain real experience whilst earning, and if you’re looking to change direction or thinking of studying for another degree, then Degree Apprenticeships are certainly worth considering.
Likewise, if you’re an employer looking to hire new staff then taking on a Degree Apprentice – who typically works for up to four days per week and studies one day per week – might be an option worth considering. There’s funding available from the government, depending on the size and turnover of your business, and existing staff can benefit by gaining new skills and a degree as well.
The Office For Students has more information about Degree Apprenticeships, along with handy guides for both prospective apprentices and employers.
As Alison at Power Resourcing says: “I’ve interviewed and employed Degree Apprentices before and found the whole process exciting, it’s great to see such talent and enthusiasm. Taking on a Degree Apprentice can make a real difference to your business and indeed help ‘Build The Future’.”
